All EDG temple activities has been canceled for January 9th, 2010 due to the cold weather. Please stay safe and see you next week.
Hard Freeze Warning remains in effect until 9 AM Sunday. With temperatures staying below freezing for the next several hours, please remember the 4 "P's" - People, Pet, Plants & Pipes.
Hypothermia
Hypothermia is not just caused by being exposed to extreme cold weather outdoors. It can also be caused by long exposures to mild cold while indoors. Senior citizens are more vulnerable to Hypothermia and should set their thermostats to at least 68 degrees or higher if possible. However, many seniors are concerned about the increase to their heating bills, so here are some "quick tips" for staying warm at home.
* Close doors to rooms that are not being used and close the air vents
* Keep blinds and curtins closed around windows to reduse cold air drafts
* Reduce drafts around doors by placing a rolled up towel in front of the door
* Dress in layers even at home - remember warm socks, hats and blankets
For information about warming centers and shelters locations or for social service referrals, please dial the 2-1-1 helpline.
Stay warm, safe and informed!
