Description
Beginning Buddhist Studies Course (BBSC) is a a program that provides basic understanding of Buddhism and its practical applications. There will be 4 classes and each will be conducted on Saturdaay morning at 10:00AM. The class will start April 13th 2013. The is taught by monks and nuns of Texas Buddhist Association (TBA).
There are no formal prerequisites for the 2013 Beginning Buddhist Studies course.
Whether you are a first-time practitioner or a seasoned practitioner, you are welcome to attend. This course is designed to provide an overview of Buddhist principles and concepts within a historical context. The course will include such topics as Buddhist history, the life of the Buddha, the Dharma (teachings), the Sangha (the community of practitioners) and foundation concepts.
As
an added incentive to those who attend all of the classes, we will hold a two-day retreat exclusively for the graduates of the course at the American Bodhi Center. The retreat is a capstone of the Beginning Buddhist Studies Course and will allow course graduates to engage in mindful practice of the concepts they will have learned during the course. The retreat is scheduled to begin upon the conclusion of the course.
